FOLBR - Friends Of the Lower Blue River

STOP THE PIT!!!

The DRMS Pre-Hearing Conference

The long awaited DRMS Pre-Hearing Conference sets the stage for the State Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety Board to consider Peak Ranch Resource. Peak Materials has applied for a state permit with the DRMS to mine gravel at the former Hillyard Property. The conference, held Wednesday, March 31st, set the ground rules for the full DRMS Board meeting April 21st and 22nd to consider Peak's permit request.
One hundred and seventy people submitted letters of objection to the project, but only those who attended the conference will be allowed to address the DRMS Board. Formal presentations from FOLBR, Lower Blue Residents United, The Elk Run Neighbors Group, as well as many individuals with "Party" status will present reasons why the gravel mine is simply a bad idea for the Lower Blue River Valley. Of course Peak Materials will also have an opportunity to address the DRMS Board with its case during the formal hearing.

The 76-acre site sits approximately one-half mile south of Ute Pass Road on US Highway 9.  The property on the west side of Highway 9 is bordered by the Blue River. Anyone can log into the DRMS Board Hearings, even those without "Party" status. We will provide the Zoom Meeting link when it is published.
