STOP THE PIT!!!

Gravel Watch

Blue River flowing adjacent to proposed Gravel mine site

In our continuing effort to keep you informed about the proposed gravel mining operation on Highway 9 near Ute Pass Rd....

As of August 1, 2020, Summit County has not received any Conditional Use Permit Applications from Peak Materials.  The company will need two...one to allow mining on the 80-acre Hillyard site purchased. And a second to allow for the importing of material to Peak Material's processing facility in Silverthorne.

There were some reports circulating that a drilling rig was seen on the property. But that has not been substantiated and there is currently no drilling equipment on the property.

We will continue to monitor the process of this proposed project. Until Conditional Use Permits are obtained by the company, nothing moves forward. At such time public hearings are held to review the permits. We will be calling on all members of FOLBR to attend and let their opinions be known and their voices heard.
