Fundraising Success...But Goal Not Met

Posted on 31 August 2026

The FOLBR Board and Slate Creek Hall Committee members have been raising funds for the project and are proud to report that close to $15,000 has been raised from individual donors and $18,000 from local foundations (Summit Foundation and Freeport-McMoRan). We are awaiting additional foundation decisions for another $20,000 requested. Slate Creek Hall needs your support to reach our goal!  Let us know if you would like more information and/or a tour of this beautiful building.

Built by the Slate Creek community in 1936 using WPA funds, FOLBR's Slate Creek Hall was once a lively gathering place for dances and local gatherings. One of FOLBR's most exciting goals for 2026-2027 is reactivating the Hall as a community resource, offering special events, art shows, talks, movies, dances and more. However, as the steward of this county historic building, we need to address a damaging condensation issue by replacing the roof, adding insulation and improving air circulation. In order to do this work we need to raise $70,000.
