FOLBR Hosted 2009 Annual Meeting at Pass Creek Ranch

The Friends of the Lower Blue River held their 2009 Annual Membership Meeting at Pass Creek Ranch on Saturday, August 8. Attendees were treated to an informative panel of speakers in front of the perfect back-drop: the Gore Range. Panelists included State Senator Dan Gibbs, Blue River Water Commissioner Scott Hummer, Lake Dillon Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Berino, Lake Dillon Fire Authority Board Member Jerry "Doc" Peterson, USFS East Zone Fire Management Officer Ross Wilmore, and Summit County Emergency Manager Joel Cochran.

Thank you to Jim & Sandra Donlon for hosting the meeting this year. Check back next spring for information on the 2010 annual meeting.

Lower Blue Part of "Pulling for Colorado"

On Saturday, July 11, there were two teams of weed-pullers, and several FOLBR members, that attacked sites in the Lower Blue as part of the state-wide "Pulling for Colorado" event. Thank you's go out to Vicki Knowlton, Michael Forster, Molly MacKown, Karn Steigelmeier, Kaylin Lilly, Brittany Perkins, Amy Vallario, Marilyn, Dave & Kili Raymond, Cora McCold, Shawn McDonald, and Helen Barker - the members of our 2 "Blue" teams. Together we pulled weeds at several DOW sites along the Blue River and on Forest Service land above Oxbox Ranch below Hunter's Knob. Thank you also to all other FOLBR members who aided in pulling weeds at several other sites throughout the county. Shown in the attached pictures are Karn & Kaylin, and Shawn McDonald packing out some of the weeds that were pulled. The easy part was pulling the weeds!

This is an annual event and we're always looking for more volunteers. Look for information on the 2010 pulling event next spring.
